2012 Father's Day Sponsored Cycle Ride

Story

In 2011 we cycled the Millennium Route in Milton Keynes on Father's Day to raise money for the RNLi in memory of Dave Joyce. This year the riders will have a choice of cycling the Millennium route (which is 12 miles) or taking in an additional figure of eight to cycle 22 miles, which will include the Millennium Route on Saturday 16th June to raise even more money for the RNLi in Dave's memory. This year Dave would have been 60 and it is three years since we lost him so we would like to smash the fabulous amount of money we raised last year. Please help us to support the wonderful lifesaving work undertaken by the RNLi. It was a charity that Dave admired and supported in his lifetime. Please give generously. Thank you so much for your support. Barbara, Amanda and Andrea And all our fellow riders!

The triumphant riders!

We did it!!!

18th June 2012
22 miles completed and the money is still coming in. We are really hoping to hit our £500 target, it's not too late to donate. The riders set off with a good tail wind at 10.20am and after adding in a few extra loops to clock up those miles and one early retirement due to injury the core group made it back across the finish line at 14.20. Applause, chocolate medals, RNLi pins, and a much needed cuppa were there to greet us. THe BBQ was fantastic too! We toasted everyone involved and raised a glass to remember Dave too. Thank you so much to everyone who came to offer their support to the riders, especially the Commanes, the Burfords, the Molineaux's, the Church-West's and Peter Hayward. Big thanks to Jason Bird too. Not sure what the next fundraiser will be. Amanda is doing a cake sale at work and I am organising a tea party in August. There are whispers from Amanda about doing the Coast to Coast next year too. But for now, thank you all so much for your fantastic support, we couldn't have done it without you! Team Joyce - Barbara, Amanda and Andrea.

Not long now!!

12th June 2012
So we are a matter of days away from this years cycle ride. Due to injuries the number of riders is dwindling but our spirits are still high and we still hope to have a great day and raise lots of money for this fantastic cause. Training has been somewhat limited due to a crazy decision to do some decorating at Mum's house in time for the big event. However, the rubber rings are already in situ so we are well prepared for the inevitable saddle sore!! Thank you all for the sponsorship raised so far, we are very grateful for all your wonderful support. Barbara, Amanda and Andrea

We're doing it again!

24th March 2012
When Amanda suggested we do this again but double the route in order to push ourselves and make the event different from last year I have to say that I did wince. I remembered the saddle sore i had after last years cycle. I had to sit on an inflatable rubber ring for three days after!! So this year I am going to be purchasing padded cycling shorts and also making the effort to bring my own bike to MK from Cambridge. Any other tips people have for added comfort are all gratefully received!! Many thanks in advance for your support! Andrea
